Object description: Long dagger [.1] with two edged tapering blade and horn hilt, with leather and ?crocodile skin covered sheath [.2] with arm ring. The blade is long and the weapon could be described as a dagger or a short sword. The blade is decorated on both surfaces with stamped dots in a zigzag pattern and rows of crescent shapes. The hilt is made of ?rhino horn with an expanded cross guard. The other end is curved and the ends project down towards the blade. An octagonal spike projects from the end of the handle. The sheath is made from two pieces of wood, covered with leather and ?crocodile skin. The crocodile skin covers the majority of the sheath with a band of leather in the upper half of the sheath. It has a large rounded tip made from woven leather and arm ring of red leather that is decorated with scored lines. The visible band of leather has stamped decoration on both sides and the crocodile skin is stitched together with thongs of red, green and black leather. [SM 14/06/2007]
