Object description: Axe, with crescent blade (convex edge) fixed with three ring sockets on shanks to a wooden haft. The ring sockets are riveted to the blade. The top half of the haft is bound with widthways bands of iron and longer strips of iron with raised punch marks which criss-cross underneath the widthways iron bands. The haft butt and head are capped with iron. [SM 13/04/2007]
