Object description: Sword [.1] with wooden hilt and copper alloy guard. With a wooden sheath [.2] bound with cane and bark strips. The sword guard is circular with a scalloped edge. There are five copper alloy decorative plates on the hilt. They are a leaf decoration, a scene with three deer and trees, three deer lying down and two circular shapes with a depressed centre and incised crosshatched designs. The hilt and sheath have been painted in red and black. [SM 02/04/2007]
